SURVIVAL HABITS TO BEAT CORONAVIRUS LOCK DOWN

Habits To Beat Coronavirus Lockdown

Many people are feeling sad, overwhelmed and confused about the outbreak of this coronavirus. You might be worried about yourself or your family and friends.

This is absolutely normal. Our lives have completely changed as a result of the virus.
Schools are shut, restaurants are closed, many stores are closed down. People are now self-isolating, social distancing to protect themselves and other people.

Staying at home might not be fun at this time especially when it's not your choice. But there are things you can do to help you cope daily.

1. Keep in touch With People
Call, video-call or message family or friends to support each other.
This will help you feel connected again and give you a sense of things continuing as usual. Make sure your conversations are positive, you don't want to start talking about the coronavirus.

2. Open Your Windows for Fresh Air
As simple as this may sound, just opening a window and looking out at what's happening around you, can help give you a feeling of space. This will also help ease the feeling of being trapped inside.

3. Take a break from the News
Taking a break from the news and social media can help your mental wellbeing. You could check them at certain times of the day. You might even take it a bit further by switching off your phone for several hours.

4. Look after yourself
We have so much time on our hands at this time. Get enough sleep. Eat well and drink enough water. Keep active. Be kind to yourself and to others too.

5. Keep your days as normal as possible
If you are a student - try and study during school hours. If you are a worker - Find something to do during your working hours or a hobby that you like. Be creative. Chat or call your friends as you usually would. These practices may help you feel like things haven't changed that much.

6. Talk with someone you can Trust
We are all in this together. Talking to a friend, a family member, work colleague or helpline services can make a difference. Anyone who you feel can give you the necessary support for how you are feeling at this time.

7. Give A Helping Hand Where You Can
When you help others, you're also helping yourself. This will certainly make you feel a sense accomplishment, that's is simply how we are wired.  Donate something, help an elderly with shopping, volunteer to support a cause. If you are young and fit, you can do something to help someone.

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” Barak Obama
