HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS WISELY

 CHOOSE YOUR FRIENDS WISELY

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.” Proverbs 13:20

Most people don’t realise this as it happens very slowly and over time. The people you spend your time with are shaping who you are becoming and your destiny.

The very important question to ask would be; are these people or this person drawing me to God, directing me towards my goals and dreams? Ask yourself some serious questions. If the relationship is not impacting you, then do something about it.

We need friends, no doubt. And most people want to be good friends (hopefully). How do decide who to let in? Where do you start from?

Relationships are like nutrition for your soul. We ought to be careful who we let into our lives. Everybody claims to be good (I believe that too) . You hear people say things like; “But I am a nice person”, “But she is a good person”; I am sure you have heard those words before.

Please note:

NOT EVERYTHING “nice” is RIGHT.

NOT EVERYTHING “good” is GODLY.

Are candies and chocolates not sweet? Why aren't you eating them every day?

You are directly or indirectly influenced by people you spend the most time with. Even when you think you are different from them or they can’t change you, give yourself some time, you will become a different person.

You are influenced by the voices you listen to. For those who spend hours on phone chatting away or gossiping about somebody; if you listen to such people, you are being influenced by them...it's that simple!

Relationships are like nutrition for your soul. Do the people closest to you make you a better person (healthier person both inside and outside )? Or do you binge on junk food together? Do you criticise together?  You are directly influenced by the people you spend the most time with. Even if you feel like you are different from them right now, give it some time…you will become something else.

“That there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honoured, all the members rejoice with it.” 1Cor 12:25-27

God has designed us in such a way that we will all need each other. We all have different gifts and talents, strengths and weaknesses. We can join forces together. We can lookout for one another, help each other, encourage each other, uplift, inspire and even challenge each other to grow and become better.

So, do not think highly of yourself; You are not better than anybody. Every one of us is gifted, God never made a failure.

“For I say,...to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure…”Romans 12:3
